An unforgettable evening of passion, power, precision and poignancy in this performance of of Sir James MacMillan’s St Luke Passion. Nominated for the 2015 British Composer Awards, the great contemporary Scottish composer has dispensed with soloists, instead choosing to turn the spotlight on the choral forces, including a youth choir singing the words of Christ. In this performance, this role will be taken by The Red Maids’ School Chamber Choir.
The programme also includes Barber’s intensely moving Adagio for Strings and Thomas Tallis’ sublime setting of the opening verses from the Lamentations of the prophet Jeremiah.
