Bristol Ensemble returns to Christ Church, Nailsworth for a new season of concerts with a performance of Beethoven’s light-hearted and charming Serenade for Flute, Violin and Viola. Written in 1801 as outdoor music to indulge the Viennese, it enjoyed huge popularity. Mozart’s Flute Quartet capitalised on the fashion for gentlemen amateur musicians to play the flute, and it places the instrument as a lead soloist in this work, bridging the Baroque and emerging classical styles, with its transparent textures and vivid colours.
Tickets £10 on the door.
