Bristol Ensemble At Home – Jonathan James

Bristol Ensemble At Home – free online chamber recitals and talks

Dr Jonathan James (presenter and creative workshop leader)
Broadcast from Bristol

Although live public concerts have been cancelled to prevent the spread of infection, our musicians are still here to provide comfort, solace and entertainment for you, through the power of live music.

We are putting together a series of 30 minute live, informal online recitals and talks which you can watch via the Bristol Ensemble’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com.

In the fifth in the series, presenter Dr Jonathan James discusses Sibelius’ Fifth Symphony. The work is one of the composer’s most life-affirming pieces, a perfect antidote to these troubling times. It feels as if it flowed from the pen, but actually he struggled to find its final shape, revising it twice. We’ll explore how this wonderful work came together and why it’s so effective.

The talk is available for you to watch and enjoy free of charge. If you would like to make a donation to the Bristol Ensemble*, you can do so by clicking the link below or by visiting www.easydonate.org or by text:
