Beethoven: the Symphonies

In 2013 we are completing our survey of Beethoven’s nine symphonies with stunning international soloists and exciting explorations of both new and old repertoire.

The middle three symphonies will be presented in a way reminiscent of their momentous premieres: all three on the same day, for a true celebration of the composer’s spirit and style, with German cuisine and culture celebrated alongside. A feast of all kinds and a unique experience not to be missed!

For the final three in spring 2013, the Ensemble is delighted to be joined by
international soloists Dame Evelyn Glennie, Freddy Kempf and Nicola Benedetti, along with the formidable forces of Bristol Choral Society for the ninth. This closing chapter also allows for an exploration of Beethoven’s deafness and a new appreciation of his genius.

Keep an eye on the concert pages for more details, including online booking: 27 Jan 2013 (4, 5, 6) , 12 March (7, with Evelyn Glennie), 12 April (8, with Nicola Benedetti), 8 May (9, with Freddy Kempf and Bristol Choral Society).
